In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing the rehabilitation journey of stroke survivors, Tendring Specialist Stroke Service has introduced a specialized seated yoga program. Designed to cater to the unique needs of individuals living with the aftermath of a stroke, this innovative program offers a holistic approach to recovery and well-being.
Stroke survivors often face a myriad of physical and emotional challenges as they navigate their path to recovery. Recognizing the importance of holistic care, Tendring Specialist Stroke Service has incorporated seated yoga as part of their rehabilitation services. This gentle yet effective form of yoga is performed entirely from a seated position, making it accessible to individuals with varying levels of mobility.

"We are thrilled to introduce our seated yoga program for stroke survivors," says Indi, the Director of Tendring Specialist Stroke Service. "Yoga has been shown to have numerous benefits for physical and mental well-being, and we believe it can play a valuable role in supporting the recovery journey of our clients."

Led by an experienced yoga instructor who is experienced in working with acquired brain injury, each session is carefully tailored to accommodate individual abilities and goals. Participants are guided through a series of gentle movements, stretches, breathing exercises, and meditation practices, all designed to promote flexibility, strength, balance, and relaxation.

"We understand the unique challenges faced by stroke survivors, which is why our seated yoga program is specifically designed to meet their needs," says Dave, lead yoga instructor at Tendring Specialist Stroke Service. "Our goal is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where participants can explore the healing benefits of yoga and connect with others on a similar journey."

The introduction of the seated yoga program at Tendring Specialist Stroke Service has been met with enthusiasm and praise from both clients and healthcare professionals alike. Many stroke survivors have already reported improvements in mobility, mood, and overall well-being after participating in the program.

As Tendring Specialist Stroke Service continues to prioritise the holistic care of stroke survivors, the introduction of the seated yoga program marks a significant step forward in their mission to promote recovery, resilience, and well-being for all those affected by stroke.
