Dave and Pauline Smith, the energetic team behind Flexfityoga, have announced a bold and heart-stopping challenge: a wing walk in June 2026, undertaken to raise funds and awareness for Headway Essex, the county’s leading charity supporting people with acquired brain injuries.
From Yoga Mats to Wing Struts

Dave, founder and lead instructor, combines yoga with fitness training and has qualifications to work with clients with impairments and disabilities, while Pauline brings her background in fitness, dance, and seated movement.

Their wing‑walk — typically performed on the upper wing of a vintage biplane while airborne — will test their courage in a very different domain than yoga studios and community halls.

The purpose behind the stunt is deeply personal and community‑oriented: The proceeds and sponsorships will go directly to Headway Essex, whose mission is to support survivors of brain injury and their families across Essex.

Headway Essex provides critical services including cognitive rehabilitation, social and community support, carer support networks, and day‑centre activities. In Essex, every 58 minutes someone is hospitalised with an acquired brain injury, and Headway Essex depends heavily on donations and fundraising to sustain and expand its services.

Dave and Pauline say they hope the dramatic visual of their aerial leap will attract public attention, momentum on social media, and generous pledges from individuals and businesses.
