Tendring District Council has installed a KOMPAN Outdoor Mobility Gym next to York road car park in Holland-on-sea: A Game-Changer for Seniors and Those with Long-Term Health Conditions

Supporting Active Aging and Long-Term Health
KOMPAN’s Outdoor Mobility Gym is revolutionizing the way seniors and individuals with long-term health conditions stay active. Designed to improve strength, balance, and coordination, this innovative outdoor fitness space provides a safe and effective way to promote mobility, independence, and social well-being.

Designed for Everyday Challenges
The Stay Fit range replicates everyday movements, helping users maintain the skills needed for daily tasks. Equipment like the Balance Board and Surface Challenge simulate real-life scenarios such as stepping off a bus or walking on uneven surfaces. These exercises strengthen muscles and improve stability, reducing the risk of falls, which are a major health concern for older adults.

A Safe and Inclusive Exercise Option
For those with long-term conditions such as arthritis, Parkinson’s, or post-stroke disabilities, the assisted step stations and double stairs provide low-impact rehabilitation and strength-building opportunities. Safety rails and guided exercises ensure accessibility and confidence in every movement.

Social and Mental Health Benefits
Isolation is a significant issue for seniors and those with chronic conditions. KOMPAN’s outdoor gym encourages community interaction, helping users form social connections while staying active. Exercising in the fresh air also boosts Vitamin D levels, supporting bone health and immune function. By promoting active aging and rehabilitation, it empowers individuals to regain confidence in their movement, enhancing quality of life.

At FREE weekly Instructor sessions during 2026 Flexfityoga CIC in partnership with Tendring District Council will be delivering 1 hour sessions with participants familiarisation with KOMPAN Fit app and outdoor gym equipment.
Participants will also complete PARQ health questionnaire before use of equipment. This will be followed by working with participants to make sure of correct and safe use of equipment and to deliver effective strength and balance training for rehabilitation.
